Inplane Photonics, Inc. (“Inplane”) designs and manufactures the most Highly
Integrated Photonic (HIP) components available today. We build to industry standard and to customer
specific requirements. We provide network solutions for Defense and Telecommunications applications,
and our goal is also to be a primary supplier of HIP products and services in the optical revolution,
occurring across many commercial markets.
Inplane's versatile integration approach leverages an extensive toolbox of functional elements base on unique
IP and expertise in Planar Lightwave Circuits (PLCs). These elements are integrated on a glass-on-silicon platform,
to deliver practical, applications specific, solutions. The platform can also support the hybrid integration
of active and passive elements, and enables system-on-a-chip (SOC) solutions. As an example, we have manufactured
SOC products with as many as 200 functional elements on a signel PLC chip. This is the highest level of
Photonic integration achieved to date.
The HIP products are dramatically smaller and lighter than fiber or bulk optic solutions. The elimination of spliced
connections and the use of an Si platform also enable more robust solutions for demanding environments.
Inplane has a turnkey manufacturing capability, including a 5,000 sq. ft., class-100, PLC wafer processing facility.
This wafer processing is largely based on established materials, processes and equipment used by the semiconductor
industry. It is highly manufacturable and compatible with low cost production. Additional cost advantages can derive
from the elimination of packaging levels and associated labor and materials cost in our integrated solutions.
The company is privately held and based in Central New Jersey. It was founded in 2000 and commenced commercial operations
in 2001. The management team is well seasoned in both Business and Technology. The experience of our technical team is
